This game was made for the 256 bytes digger/boulderdash compo made by
Gnome in the summer of 1998. The compos made by Gnome seems to be
getting harder and harder - but that's okay for me - I'm expecting the
256 bytes Spy vs. Spy compo to be annonced anytime soon! Anyway I
think this compo was a great idea. A shame that Gnome himself didn't
join the compo but at least no one can suspect him of messing with the
votes now - though I know he would never do such a thing.
I don't know if it has already been done, but what about a 256 bytes
PacMan compo next time? I'm sure it would be a challenge to get those
monsters hunting efficiently in 256 bytes.
Last a tip for anyone who has to drive on the efficient, but boring german
highways : Bring along a paper copy of your code! I managed to
optimize about 20 bytes on these roads (as a passenger).

Enough of this - let's move on to the game.

  Requires : 386 or above
	     keyboard

The game will work both under Dos and Win95.

  Controls (assuming a qwerty keyboard):

      up : 'i'
      down : 'k'
      left : 'j'
      right : 'l'
      esc : quits the game

  Other keys may also work!

  About the game :

The player start in the upper right corner. You have to get 12 diamonds
(the yellow ones) and avoid being smashed by the stones (brown ones). At
the bottom of the screen outside the red borders you will see the time
indicated by a growing blue line. When the blue reaches the other side
of the screen your time has run out (about 18 secs), so you better get
those diamonds before that. Then you will advance to the next level.
All levels are randomily created each time - so no one will look the same.
Each time you advance to a new level the number of diamonds (about 30) will
stay the same, but the number of rocks will increase with about 80 so in
the end it will be very hard to go anywhere without getting killed by
a rock. I have managed to get to level 7 so far. If the time is up or you
get a diamond or rock in the head the game will quit. The motion of the
falling rocks and diamonds are about the same as in the original - so you
  know what to expect.

Enjoy the game! See Source for technical details.
